Save the date for a Tea Party as Sweet Kim Newlen, founder of Sweet Moday, celebrates the Sweet 16th Anniversary of Sweet Monday!  BYO Tea Cup and Saucer to West End Presbyterian Church (9008 Quioccasin Road, Richmond, VA 23229) to hear an inspiring message by Kim on "Living Simple, Sweet & Salty Lives for Christ." Bring all the women from your church and friends for a FUN evening of "reaching out to women one sweet invitation at a time for Christ." They'll have tea and dessert and an evening of fun as we all connect and make new friends.

June 6, 2010 Ice Cream Social

God is so good!  Although many of those invited had told me they had family things going on and then heavy rains could have stopped many others, we had a good turn out for the ice cream social.  Our start time was changed to 6:45pm and we fellowshipped until about 7:30.  Our devotional was from Psalm 119:103 in which the psalmist says, "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"  Sweet ladies. Sweet words from God.  Sweet treat to consume.  Every lady brought a topping for the ice cream and we made some tasty sundies!  Then we learned how to make Creamsicle greeting cards.  It was a very good night thanks to my sweet friends old and new.

We're having an ice cream social and some sweet fellowship.  A variety of tempting ice cream flavors will be turned into scrumptious personalized sundaes.  Bring one of your favorite toppings and a friend or two.  After we "chill" out, there will be a short devotion.  Then we're going to make an ice cream treat of a very different kind.  Come, taste, see!!!

We are experimenting with an earlier time so you can get home in time for plenty of rest.

May 2, 2010 Tea

Sweet friends gathered at my house to fellowship and enjoy a tea party.  Conversation was lively and we enjoyed sharing ideas about the difficulties of personal communication and gatherings in our culture.  The gathering was small, and we enjoyed the closeness it generated.  Thanks to all who dropped by.

Sweet Monday .org

Our founder, Kim Newlen, and her small staff have accomplished big things before.  For example, they are in May of 2009 they made it into the Guinnes Book of World Records for the World's Largest Tea Party.  Now they've organized the Sweet Monday Extra Mile 5KWalk.  For information, click here.

Auction - April 11, 2010

It's our first auction. After some time of fellowship and a word about the clutter within our lives and spring cleaning for Jesus, the auction began.  Everyone hadv arrived with an item or two from their decluttering efforts.

Friends turned out to make new friends and visit with long time friends.

Buyers scanned the items in advance but held onto their money for the better part of the auction.  When popular items went up, money was flying.  Participants even shared their wealth to help others make purchases.

Sweet Monday Walk

Sweet Monday, known for its Guiness world's record for the world's largest tea party, is now walking into history.  Here's what the founder, Kim Newlen has to say about it:

"Sweet Monday WalkSweet Friends are gathering together nationwide to raise awareness and FUNds to benefit Sweet Monday and our simple mission of reaching out to women one sweet invitation at a time for Christ. Sweet Monday energizes and encourages women’s ministries by inspiring hospitality and relationship. These monthly home-based socials full of fun, fresh ideas connect women and offer a simple introduction to Jesus Christ.

Sweet Monday, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, based in Richmond, VA, will host a local Sweet Monday Extra Mile 5k Walk at Collegiate School, Robins Campus (Goochland County) on Saturday, May 22, 2010.

Also on May 22, 2010, women leading or participating in Sweet Monday outreaches nationwide will walk in their hometowns that same day or by the end of May. Women will hit the treadmills together at the local gym, head out in their neighborhoods or gather in a local mall or in church parking lots to walk the Sweet Monday Extra Mile 5K Walk. Some may even want to walk together during their Sweet Monday meeting.

We are tickled pink to have this opportunity to spend time in friendship and exercise while contributing to a sweet cause. The walk proceeds support more Sweet Monday outreaches and more introductions to Jesus Christ through the development of materials to encourage and energize new and existing Sweet Monday outreaches and training events on college campuses and churches in the USA and around the world, i.e., China, Australia, and Europe."
